Hi, I’m Lori

  • I’m a clinical Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist with a Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine and Herbal Medicine, certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz and completed a four-year Master’s program at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC, where I gained just under 3,000 hours of didactic study in the realm of both Chinese and Western Biomedicine, in addition to over 900 hours of clinical experience. I studied under the renowned physician and 88th-generation Daoist priest, Jeffrey Yuen, who is dedicated to making Classical Chinese medicine accessible in the modern world.

Chinese medicine offers a broad range of treatments—anything you might consult an allopathic doctor for can be addressed with Eastern Medicine. I believe that true healing occurs when both practitioner and patient are committed to the same goal. I expect my patients to be actively engaged in their path to health, as there is no quick fix. My goal is to be a supportive partner in your healthcare and wellness journey.

  • They say it takes one to know one, and that’s the short answer to why I’m drawn to treating these specific conditions:

    1. Musculoskeletal Issues

If you’ve read my story, you know my journey began with overuse injuries and muscle imbalances from constant, repetitive activity. There’s nothing quite as satisfying to me as identifying these issues through orthopedic and muscle testing. I relate to my patients—the driven, overworked, often “go-go-go” personalities of the fitness world. Most people first come to acupuncture for pain relief and leave experiencing its much broader benefits, from improved balance to reduced pain.

    2. Anxiety, Stress, and Depression

Okay, this is a big one. First off, I have treated many people who’s chief complaint, or the reason they have come to seek treatment is for one of the above issues- but it’s worth saying that of those I’ve seen clinically who seek help for any other issue are also managing stress, anxiety, or depression. Sometimes one is caused by the other, and sometimes these issues are two separate (as separate as they can be). Acupuncture is like a reset button for the nervous system, helping shift from fight-or-flight to a more parasympathetic nervous system. These are some of my favorite issues to support, especially when combining acupuncture with herbal therapies.

    3. Women’s Health

From fertility and cycle regulation to menopause and even labor induction, I work with a full range of women’s health concerns. Our menstrual cycle is our “sixth vital sign”—it provides essential insights into our health. I’m passionate about sharing this knowledge and supporting women in every stage of life.

    4. Cosmetic Acupuncture (Coming Soon)

As someone who, on occasion, has been known to favor my own vanity over my health (see: toxic hair products?!), I think cosmetic acupuncture is amazing - a fully holistic and natural way to age gracefully without Botox, fillers or chemicals. As a recipient of this modality, I can’t wait to bring this service to my patients soon—stay tuned!

  • My journey has always revolved around movement. Before I became an acupuncturist, I was a fitness instructor, yoga instructor, reformer Pilates teacher, a pretty terrible runner, and an enthusiastic -bordering on obsessive- mountain and road cyclist. I first discovered acupuncture through my own running injuries made worse by endless hours on the bike. My acupuncturist in New York sparked my first interest with Chinese medicine that deepened over time. Like many, I first sought acupuncture for pain relief, but I stayed for its endless benefits.

Who am I outside the clinic? A New Yorker through and through, raised on bagels and shmear, good pizza and an audaciousness for big dreams! To live in the UK has been nearly a lifelong dream of mine. You can find me nowadays rambling somewhere with my adorable little dog, who’s constantly on the lookout for our next best walk.

I can’t wait to meet you on your own journey to health and well-being.
